A mediator’s perspective…

As a mediator I see the value of a third party presence. Here are a few reasons:

1

Having a mediator present helps bring balance to your mediation process.

2

Mediation empowers you to make your own decisions for your family.

3

Screening for power imbalances is key to a successful mediation process.

4

The mediator’s role is to respect, acknowledge and empathize as they lend a listening ear to the participants story.

5

Mediation allows both participants the freedom to express their views and be heard. Listening to each other in mediation is key for successful outcomes.

6

Mediation allows “give and take” on the part of both parties so the participants can find solutions most suitable for them in their situation.

Determining a Solution…

My job is to help you recognize and communicate what is important to both you and your partner. I provide insight and help you:

  • prioritize issues and focus on one at a time

  • identify issues pertaining to your children

  • discuss and negotiate possible solutions that best suit you and your children

  • develop parenting plans

  • negotiate, draft, review, and revise an emerging agreement that is then made legal by your lawyer

"Asking for help is the first big step towards finding a solution. It shows that you have the courage to admit when you need the experience of someone else.”
