A mediator’s perspective…
As a mediator I see the value of a third party presence. Here are a few reasons:
1
Having a mediator present helps bring balance to your mediation process.
2
Mediation empowers you to make your own decisions for your family.
3
Screening for power imbalances is key to a successful mediation process.
4
The mediator’s role is to respect, acknowledge and empathize as they lend a listening ear to the participants story.
5
Mediation allows both participants the freedom to express their views and be heard. Listening to each other in mediation is key for successful outcomes.
6
Mediation allows “give and take” on the part of both parties so the participants can find solutions most suitable for them in their situation.
Determining a Solution…
My job is to help you recognize and communicate what is important to both you and your partner. I provide insight and help you:
prioritize issues and focus on one at a time
identify issues pertaining to your children
discuss and negotiate possible solutions that best suit you and your children
develop parenting plans
negotiate, draft, review, and revise an emerging agreement that is then made legal by your lawyer

"Asking for help is the first big step towards finding a solution. It shows that you have the courage to admit when you need the experience of someone else.”
